Rediscover Your Local Area
Most of us know our route to work and very little else within a mile of home.

Walk one new street a week
The simplest method there is. Pick a road you have never turned down and walk it. Over a couple of months you will build a genuine map of your area rather than a single familiar line through it.
Where to look
- Local markets and weekend food stalls.
- Parks, green corridors, canal towpaths and nature reserves.
- Libraries and community centres, which often run free events.
- Independent cafés, bakeries and family-run food shops.
- Museums and galleries with free entry days.
- Community noticeboards — still one of the best sources of local information.
Change the time, not the place
A park at 7am, a high street on a Sunday morning and a market at closing time are three completely different places. Shifting the hour often reveals more than travelling further.
Make it social
Local groups, classes, volunteering and sports clubs are among the easiest ways to feel settled somewhere, particularly if you have moved recently. Most are cheaper and friendlier than they look from the outside.
Keep a short list
Note the places you liked and the ones you want to try. AttivaGo's Discover section is built for exactly this: keeping local places and events somewhere you will actually find them again.
