How to Create a Simple Morning Routine
A good morning routine is not a five-step wellness ritual at 5am. It is three small things you can do on an ordinary Tuesday.

Start with the end of the evening
Mornings are largely decided the night before. Clothes laid out, bag packed, kitchen tidy and a reasonable bedtime remove most of the friction before you open your eyes.
Pick three anchors
Rather than a long checklist, choose three anchors that reliably make your morning better. For example:
- Daylight โ open the curtains or step outside for a few minutes.
- Water โ a glass before your first coffee.
- Direction โ write the three things that matter today.
Keep the same order
Doing the same things in the same sequence turns a routine into something automatic. Each step becomes the cue for the next one and you stop needing to decide anything.
Protect the first ten minutes from your phone
Checking messages immediately hands your attention to other people's priorities before you have set your own. Even ten protected minutes changes the tone of the morning.
Have a short version
Some mornings are chaos. Keep a two-minute version โ water, daylight, one sentence about the day โ so the routine survives the weeks when nothing goes to plan.
Review it after two weeks
If a step keeps getting skipped, it is probably the wrong step. Swap it for something you actually want to do. A routine you keep is better than one that looks good on paper.
