Create a Better Evening Routine
A calm evening is the cheapest upgrade available to your next morning.

Give the day a clear ending
Without a signal, work and worry drift into the evening. A short closing ritual โ shutting the laptop, writing tomorrow's list, a walk around the block, changing clothes โ tells your brain the day is done.
Dim things down
Bright light in the hour before bed makes it harder to feel sleepy. Lamps instead of overhead lights, screens dimmed and a slower pace all help you settle.
A simple wind-down sequence
- Tidy one surface so tomorrow starts clear.
- Prepare what you need for the morning.
- Something calm for twenty minutes: reading, stretching, music, a shower.
- Phone out of reach, or at least out of the bedroom.
- Lights out at roughly the same time most nights.
Watch the late-evening inputs
Caffeine can linger for hours, so late coffee often affects sleep more than people expect. Large meals and alcohol close to bedtime also tend to make sleep lighter and more broken.
If your mind will not stop
Write it down. A short list of tomorrow's tasks or a few lines about what is on your mind moves it out of your head and onto paper, which genuinely helps many people switch off.
If poor sleep is persistent and affecting your daily life, speak to a healthcare professional.
